September Meal Support Group
Come Together on Wednesday Evenings in September for Virtual Small Group Meal Support
What’s Meal Support?
Meal Support is a common activity in eating disorder treatment; it’s a lot like it sounds - a “supported” meal!
Eating alone can often let disordered eating thoughts take the driver’s seat.
Eating in a supportive community of other people who are working on their relationship with food can help us move forward on our journey.
Melinda won’t give you personalized recommendations or ideas about what to eat or work through specific eating challenges during Meal Support time.
Instead, you’ll be prompted to come to Meal Support with your own intentions for the meal.
This style of Meal Support is not a “therapeutic” meal; it’s more a time to practice skills and come together to eat in community.
Please arrive at Meal Support with your food prepared and ready to eat.
There won’t be a discussion of diets, numbers, eating disorders, weight loss, or exercise during Meal Support.
We’ll talk about the podcast or show we enjoy, hobbies, pets, and trips we’ve taken.
While I would love it if you could stay the full hour, I realize you might need to leave when your meal is complete, and that’s Ok!
If you finish your meal early, you can also sit with us and enjoy the company.
Some people who engage in compensation behavior after mealtimes can find this time extra time helpful.

Meal Support Intentions Might Include -
Completing your meal - a single meal or as a part of your meal plan
Practicing meal pacing
Gaining exposure to a new food or a fear food
Eating in a social setting
Showing up to meal support, because eating can be tough!

What’s the structure of Meal Support?
Plan on coming to the group with your food already prepped and ready to go.
While we love seeing your face, you can also keep your camera off during the call.
We’ll have a brief grounding as we arrive. Then we’ll do an optional check-in. I’ll offer some check-in prompts to facilitate.
Then, we’ll eat our meal. And have some good chats! We’ll check out at the end of our time together.
Who is the Meal Support group for?
Meal Support is for anyone wanting more connection during meals or with challenges around meal time, whether you have a diagnosed eating disorder or are looking for some structure.
You might be better of with one-on-one support or a different type of group if -
Eating socially is distressing/disturbing right now.
Social structure (set meal times, Zoom group, check-ins) causes more stress than eating alone.
You need a space to talk and process emotions that are coming up with food in the moment.
You sense there may be harm or feelings of competition right now from eating in social situations.
